What is the purpose of this app?

This app is designed to help canyoning enthusiasts plan and navigate their trips effortlessly. From access routes and parking to offline maps and topographies, it’s your ultimate canyoning companion.

What devices are supported?

The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. It works best on smartphones but is also compatible with tablets.

In which languages is the app available?

The app currently supports English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and French. If you’d like to see additional languages, feel free to contact us.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes, you can download canyon information, maps, and topographies for offline use. This ensures you have everything you need, even when you’re off the grid.

What format does the app support for access routes?

The app uses tracks on a included offline map to display access routes on the map, leading you directly to canyon starting points and parking lots.

Will new canyons be added regularly?

Yes! We’re continually expanding our database with new canyons. Updates will be rolled out frequently to keep the app fresh and useful.

Contributing Data

Can I edit an existing canyon?

Yes. By clicking on >Edit Canyon<, you can submit an improved version of an existing canyon. Our team will review your submission and publish it as soon as possible.

Can I add my own canyon to the app?

Absolutely! You can add a canyon via >Add Canyon< and provide all the necessary data. This should include a description, access tracks, and a topo. Once submitted, we’ll review and publish it as quickly as possible.

What format should I use for the topo?

The topo can simply be a photo you take. Our team will then convert it into the Canyon Explore format so that it integrates seamlessly into the app.

Is there a topo generator in the app?

Not yet. Currently, you need to provide an existing topo (e.g. as a photo). However, we are working on a topo editor tool that will allow you to create and customize topos directly within Canyon Explore.

How long does it take until my submitted canyon or edit is published?

We usually review and publish new or updated canyons within a few days. The exact time may vary depending on the complexity and completeness of the data.

Can I share my canyoning trips with others?

Yes! You can post that you completed a canyon and add a short report about the current circumstances (e.g., water level, obstacles, safety conditions). This helps other users get up-to-date information and makes the community stronger.
